UPDATE: A transfer out of this facility was denied by insurance. Today 11/27 my sister who is in this hospital following kidney removal as a result of an infection caused by UTI is now "holding her pee" because the hospital is out of Pure Wicks, out of chucks, and there are no commodes. I emailed Customer Service days ago and no one responded to my email; instead I got a call back, but since I work during the day I could not take the call.

UPDATE: At about 7PM on 11/15 we had to put my sister on a bed pan ourselves, as "there was an emergency across the hall" and the one nurse available had back pain and was unable to fully assist my sister in getting on the pan. She does not feel safe, supported or cared for in this facility and we have reached out to every staff email we have + called Customer Service to discuss possible discharge to St. Lukes Hospital ASAP. Will update if/when there is a resolution.

Nurses on the night shift (after 8pm) as well as Dr Dolly Patel and Dr Katherine Floess MD so far have been very responsive and outstanding.

ORIGINAL POST: We were told the best kidney and liver specialists were here and were transferred from St Lukes in Newburgh for an emergency surgery for my sister. She was removed from ICU and its been a dumpster fire since for our long stay in NW-503. Nurses take up to 1 hour to respond to bell calls. Just now, experiencing visible distress and shortness of breath we were told my sister's blood oxygen was fine and it took way too long to get docs in the room. When docs got into the room to do a bedside ekg, machine didn't work (see photo). My mother reports that Hoyer lift also did not work, for moving my sister who is non ambulatory and has an emergency surgery incision from her belly button to her waist. While we are at it, she fell in her first PT session a few days ago and we've yet to see an incident report. Customer Service claims an investigation is in progress. All files and incident report were requested via patient portal with all releases signed and still we have no incident report in hand. Many staffers are aware of the fall and we have requested assistance from social worker and others to obtain incident report. It's been 5 days. Some nurses are rough and rude, no bedside manner and frustrated to be working with broken machinery. Nurse at present time (11/15 @ 6:15pm) is especially horrendous and rude, and her badge is turned so we cant see her name. Experience is exacerbating distress of visiting family as well as stress of patient. To be fair, this nurse in question is even rude to her own colleagues but it creates an awful environment not conducive to healing.

This hospital has the worse communication I have ever seen, that it is as though they are doing it on purpose.

My biggest problem with this hospital, is Elijah Thompson, a social worker who was overseeing of my father in laws stay and discharge from the hospital. At first I felt like Elijah was well spoken and very communicative, and after the end of every phone call it was proven otherwise.

This man is a bold face liar, a snake, and a coward. He would often give my wife and I different information, and email things that weren’t even spoken about by us. When my father in law was stabilized he started his bullying tactics by telling my wife if she did not pick a nursing home for him to go to that she will have to pay out of pocket for his hospital stay. Forgetting the fact that my father in law is 88 years of age with congenital heart failure, and dementia. He has Medicaid, health first, and Medicare.

During this time at the hospital he contracted a pneumonia to which a one PA Jane lied to us and said he did not have pneumonia, and yet it says he did and still does on his sheet.

This is but the tip of the iceberg and for the sake of time I will just say that Elijah Thompson has no business being a Social Worker let alone communicating with families in these times of distress. He has lied on paper work, lied to us over the phone, and because of this we have had to go back forth with insurance companies and in doing so has cost my father in law something he doesn’t have much of……. Time.

He should be fired no question about it.
We will be pursing legal action.
If you ever come across Elijah Thompson beware.

The definition of a corporate hospital. Always understaffed and dirty. While the staff themselves are sweet, they work themselves to the bone to make up for the lack of support they receive. And it absolutely shows in the low quality of treatment

I had chest pain so I went to what's now called Montefiore New Rochelle formerly known as sound shore hospital. I have to say the quality has not improved . I was treated badly by the nurses I encountered while I waited for an EKG. 70 with chest pains and they treated me like a child. And from what I heard from my RN daughter Montefiore Bronx is just as bad. At my visit I discovered why all the locals around here call it the valley of death

So I left one so called hospital which was supposed to properly treat a foot problem I have, which they were the 1st. to encounter, but left with only a dirty gauze and Ace bandage wrapped around it.

I was luckliy able to get an appointment with Montefiore's Podiatry Dept, and was treated with proper care mentally and physically by their wonderful staff.

My status is low, but I highly recommend these Feet Specialist to anyone who is i need of it, no matter what your financial status may be.

I received a text asking to follow up. I figured it was fraud but maybe wrong coast. I asked why I received it and to speak if it was coordinated with a doctor on my coast. Receptionist was rude and hung up on me. Doubt this is a reputable clinic. Find a new one.

One of the WORST hospitals of the USA.
HORRIBLE
THIS is where modt if not all newbie doctors come to "experiment" during internship or post grad.
Basically murderers rather than life-savers

Ultimately you go to the doctor and they send you home still sick. It's not just pills, you also have to see what the pain or perhaps certain illnesses are coming from to prescribe the corresponding medications.
